余洞真約與全真派之于洞真同時,然文中引證張伯端、石杏林、白玉蟾,又云於古杭得師傳,當屬南宋末金丹派南宗。卷首己丑(1229年)自序謂學仙者無過以陽鍊陰、忘形滅念,自然靜極陽生,陽長陰消,陰盡陽純,則仙矣。
書言內丹,分形化、氣化、坐工口訣、火燥水濫、沐浴、玄關一竅、藥物、火候、中宮、抱一等章,論述、詩偈與圖間雜,其中玄關一竅、藥物、火候均重出,疑有錯簡。畧謂人身五行,順則為凡,逆則成聖。鍊丹之士先須識生身之處,立為丹基。次須顚倒五行,依次施行:“一鍊精化氣為初關,二鍊氣成神為中關,三鍊神還虛為上關,虛空粉碎為了當。”(頁一)下手之法,暇時於靜處瞑目端坐,“外忘其形而不著物累,內忘其心而不著事,若存其中,似存不存,似守不守”(頁三久則念定陽氣生,自腰間尾閭而昇上夾脊,藉巽風鼓之而上於頂,二氣交合,降於舌端,嚥入中宮。“一日之內,三四遍功,初關百日,沐浴一月;中關百日,沐浴前同,上關百日,火候數窮,脫胎神化,抱一養童,九年行滿,白日上昇。”(頁六)又於玄關一竅、藥物、火候、沐浴等,均有較明確之論述,如謂“心即土也,土即心也,故曰中央,戊己土中央即玄關一竅也”。“此竅者即心中之心是也。”(頁六)又謂“採藥者,血中採取真氣,氣中採真精,”(頁八)血氣到頂交合為液,“流於經脈而為白血”,真精真氣合化為金,“入於中宮,結而成丹”(頁八:)。又謂“身中沐浴乃氣候之沐浴,月中之沐浴乃丹頭之沐浴”(頁十)。“氣候來潮,須當塞兌垂簾,湛然無欲以待氣候過也”(頁十)。不能固濟則丹傾矣,唯寂然不動為要。累稱採藥、沐浴、火候等須口傳心授,而未敢洩漏於文字。然本篇於宋元內丹書中仍為較明白者。

此書為余洞真撰,論述修煉內丹之經過,由守玄牝一竅,使一陽潑:動入手,再引陽氣經尾間、夾脊,上升泥九,和合陰陽二氣·下入舌端,藉咽津而入黃庭。每日行功,百日結丹,九年破頂殼而出,成就身外身。撰作年代應在南宋。
書前有「歲在己丑夏月朔日」余洞真的序,篇中分:〈形化〉、〈氣化〉、〈坐工口訣〉、〈沐浴〉、〈玄關一竅〉、〈藥物〉、〈火候〉、〈中宮〉、〈抱一〉、〈出神名曰解脫〉、〈玄關一竅〉、〈藥物〉、〈初下手〉等章。
書中說人稟陰陽氣而生,鬼為純陰,仙者純陽,人則陰陽相雜。「學仙之士,無過以陽鍊陰之術,陰盡陽純,則曰仙矣!」以為人生而有陰陽二氣降於左右二腎,修煉之法,在於求靜處而坐,瞑目閉口,外忘形,內忘心,明曉人身中之玄牝一竅(心中之心),能守其中,久久純熟,則身中陽氣自生,所謂「念定則陽生,陽氣生則有升有降。其氣升者,自腰間尾閭而升,直上夾脊而止。藉巽風則鼓而上於頂矣!二氣交合,下降於舌端,如蜜之甜,款款嚥納,直入中宮(黃庭〉矣!」一日之內,三四遍功,「初關百日,沐浴一月,中關百日,沐浴前同。上關百日,火候數窮,脫胎神化,抱一養童。九年行滿,白日上升。」從靜坐瞑目閉口,守玄牝一竅,使陽氣自生,再引陽氣自尾閭上升至夾脊,然後以意念之火,上升至泥丸,使陰陽二氣相合,下至舌端,咽下口中的津液,吞入黃庭。如此修煉至百日,則成丹結嬰兒,九年行滿能使內身之嬰兒成形,破頂殼而出,成就身外之身,遊行自在。至於修煉的過程則是「一鍊精化氣,為初關;二鍊氣成神,為中關,三鍊神還虛,為上關」。
此書撰者余洞真年代不詳,以書中〈玄關一竅〉引及程子、杏林石真人(石泰),程子為北宋人,石泰為北宋末人,死於南宋初(紹興二十八年,1028),則余洞真當為南宋時人,書首自序說:「予於古杭得受師傅,天機不隱,故以鄙句,盡心泄漏於此……歲在己丑夏月朔日余洞真序」,杭州為南宋都城,似亦說明余洞真為南宋人。
