== Description ==
In the first chapter, four introductory sections are concerned with the alchemical symbolic language (''xiangyan'' 象言), the concepts of [[Shun ni 順逆|“following the course” and “inverting the course”]] (''shunni'' 順逆), the Elixir [[Yaowu 藥物|ingredients]] (''yaowu'' 藥物), and the [[Huohou 火候|Fire phases]] (''huohou'' 火候). These are followed by two parallel series of seven essays. The first series is concerned with the process leading from the [[Xiantian 先天 & Houtian 後天|precelestial]] to the [[Xiantian 先天 & Houtian 後天|postcelestial]] domains (''xiantian'' 先天 to ''houtian'' 後天), and the second one, with the parallel process of ascent from the postcelestial to the Dao

The second chapter contains twenty-six short essays on Neidan. The work is concluded by a series of fifty “Poems for Removing Doubts” (“Poyi shi” 破疑詩); by another essay on the [[Xuanguan yiqiao 玄關一竅|One Opening of the Mysterious Barrier]]; and by a final short poem entitled “Essential Instructions on the Cultivation of Reality” (“Xiuzhen yaojue” 修真要訣).
